Burn Injuries

A severe burn injury can be caused by a number of different things. A burn injury often will cause severe pain, disability, and disfigurement, and require multiple treatments and long-term continual care. Burn injuries can be caused by

  • Industrial chemical spills
  • Boiler explosions
  • Agricultural chemicals
  • Machinery malfunctions
  • Acid exposure
  • Fires
  • Scalding water
  • Oil spills
  • Liquids overheated in microwaves
  • Fireworks or firecrackers
  • Campfires
  • Automobile accidents
  • Electrocutions
  • Medical malpractice

Third-degree burns can cause full thickness damage to deep layers of the skin, underlying tissue, and internal organs and can result in debilitating and permanent injuries, including scarring, amputations, lung damage, and heart and kidney failure. If a sufficient portion of the body is burned, the greatest risk is infection since the skin is the most important protection against infection that the body has. Injuries of this type may necessitate prolonged and expensive treatments, such as

  • Skin grafts
  • Artificial skin
  • Reconstructive surgeries
  • Plastic surgeries
  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
  • Physical therapy
  • Vocational rehabilitation
  • Pain management

At Larson Law, our attorneys will fight for the compensation you need to obtain the best treatment and support for your family throughout and after your ordeal.
